Baby Progress

A "baby bump" picture has been requested, so while I'm documenting my ever-changing body, I will also jot down a few facts for my record (which you may or may not find of interest).

1st Trimester:
-Cravings: Lays potato chips & french onion dip, macaroni & cheese, Speghetti O's, & basically anything that was salty.
-Total Weight Gain: 4 lbs (which, by the way I was eating I'm surprised it wasn't more!)

Beginning of Second Trimester:
-Cravings: Citrus (oranges, grape fruits, lemon, lime, etc), Sonic strawberry limeades, salty food cravings have disappeared, & cucumbers...thankfully, healthier foods (well, besides the weekly Sonic drinks).
-Total Weight Gain @ 16 wk appt: 8 lbs (eek!)

So, there it is...I don't know how long the "Total Weight Gain" category will last. ;)

As for Toby & I, we are still just SO extremely thankful for this incredible blessing & can't help but thank God each & every day!  Our continued prayers are for a healthy pregnancy & a healthy baby...& we find out April 5th whether our little nugget is a Boy or a Girl (Toby is convinced & had a pretty vivid dream that it was a boy...so, we'll see)!

Baby News

Well, now that we're in our second trimester we thought we'd make it public knowledge.......

WE'RE PREGNANT!!!

Disclaimer:  I want to say that if you haven't already read the "About Us" section, you may want to. I will state again that I am NOT a writer...my paragraphs will probably not flow correctly & my sentences will be filled with grammatical errors. If this bothers you, you have been warned.

I wanted to tell of God's amazing faithfulness during this time but in order to do so, I'll have to go into a bit of detail.

First, we want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of hearts to our family & friends who have prayed with us & for us through this journey.  We are thrilled that the Lord has decided to answer each & every one of those prayers & it would have been so much harder had we not had the support of our loved ones.

Needless to say, we "struggled" to get pregnant & all in all it was about a 2 yr process.  Those 2 yrs felt like a small FOREVER, yet I know there are so many couples who try even longer.   To say that it's an emotional roller coaster is an absolute understatement!! If any couple has experienced this, you know exactly what I mean.  We went through periods of anger, bitterness, an 'it's not fair' mentality, then periods of peace, just to be followed again by guilt (feelings of: 'it's my fault') & sorrow.  I spent many nights crying to the girls in small group & I know Toby was just as frustrated, but showed it much less so he could stay strong for me.

We basically had unexplained infertility (with both of us being 'normal'... I did have a few issues but nothing too major), so with lots of prayer & consideration, we finally decided to book an appointment with a Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility Specialist for the beginning of January.  What a gut wrenching feeling it is to get the packet of information in the mail & read the words you dread to hear: "Infertility - a women under 35 who has not conceived after 12 months"....ugggh!  So there we were.... "infertile" and insurance will only pay for one consultation and an hsg (Hysterosalpingogram).... anything beyond that is out of pocket.

After that, we hit our knees & PRAYED, PRAYED, PRAYED!  Our prayer everyday, was that we would get pregnant BEFORE we even had to see this doctor!  "How amazing would it be Lord, if after all this time we conceived before our appointment?!"

So, several months passed & still....nothing happened. We kept praying fervently that we would just NOT have to see this doctor.

Then,.....

on January 1st, 2012 (2 days before my doctor's appointment)...

I took the test (2 actually)...& they were positive!

So, there you have it!  We're so thankful for God's answered prayers & are continuing to pray for a healthy pregnancy, delivery & most of all BABY!
